I’m quite jealous of Poly’s ability to nail the exposure every time. Few of her shots need any post-processing at all, and the few that have been edited haven’t needed much to make them great. She also is surrounded by interesting photo opportunities in Athens, and so her photos, for instance, of local graffiti, are as exotic as they are interesting. But more important to me than the consistently high quality of her work is the fact that she is an incredibly fun Flickr friend. If she comments on a photo, she is likely to also place a note somewhere on the face of the photo – sometimes many notes – and they are sometimes hilarious, sometimes somewhat sentimental. She also has her own tags that she insists her contacts use, and if you forget to put one of her tags on your photos, she’s quite likely to add it for you! Her unique style of tagging has led me and her into many a fun discussion of all-things Flickr. And in case you’re wondering, as I did before asking her – the understroke in the middle of her handle does not indicate any unusual pronunciation or syllable emphasis. Her name is pronounced the same as the Polymnia of myth. In fact, one of her photos is captioned by a thorough recitation of the Polymnia story. Bottom line, Poly_mnia is an excellent Flickr friend and well worth placing on your contact list!
