The elegant skull and the milky way
This photo represents a couple of first for me. For example, this is the first photo that I’ve taken with a model and using remote controlled flash to capture the stars and the model in one shot. Also, it marks the first time I drive 1,400 miles, driving over 22 hours roundtrip in one weekend, just to get some shots.
The elegant skull (or La Catrina by it’s name in Spanish) is an iconic image from the Day of the Death Mexican celebration. It seemed very fitting to do this shot at the Terlingua ghost town cemetery.

Esta foto representa un par de cosas nuevas para mi. Por ejemplo, esta es la primera foto que tomo con una modelo usando flashes con control remoto para poder capturar las estrellas y la modelo en una sola foto. También representa la primera vez que manejo 1,400 millas (mas de 2,250 kilómetros), por mas de 22 horas de manejo viaje redondo en un fin de semana solo para tomar unas fotos.
La Catrina se ha vuelto una imagen icónica de la celebración del día de muertos en Mexico, por lo que me pareció adecuado el tomar esta foto en el cementerio del pueblo fantasma de Terlingua.
