As we passed this display, which was likely made for some industrial trade fair back in the days, the guide commented that this process for reducing emissions was never implemented since it was deemed too expensive.
For the sharp-eyed, at the top left you might note that it shows sulfur dioxide coming out the stack as the end product. Not sure how effective this system was if that's the end product!
