Complete Freedom
It took me ages until I got the picture right. The bird comes back sporadically, tries to land on my window, fails and flies off again. It might be a little retarded, but it keeps doing that periodically.
Hence I kept waiting with my camera, waited for the time to be right (so the sun would be reflected by the window, that I wouldn't end up with just a silhouette of the bird), for the sun to be strong enough (so I could shoot with a fast shutter speed while the aperture was stopped down to f4 for more depth of field - which was required at that focal length, to get it nice and sharp).
Lastly I used continuous focus with my AF and a high burst shooting setting of 12fps.
I took a number of pictures over the course of 2 days, most of which were somewhat off, until I finally got the shot just right.
I then converted the RW2 file into DNG via the Adobe DNG Converter, developed the RAW file using Photoshop CS5, denoised it by using Topaz DeNoise 5 and adjusted the black and white filter until I had exactly the picture that I imagined.
Patience and planning pay off eventually, if you set your mind to it :)
