NS SD60E 6916, Griffith, IN

Gong back a bit for this one, but I don't seem to post very many Norfolk Southern shots on Flickr, so I guess the time had come to break down. I kind of think the OCS F's don't count but I figured this home rebuilt SD60E looked good enough as it led a westbound on the former EJ&E back in February of 2015. The crew, for some reason, had less than an hour to work and was going to go dead around Dyer, if they were lucky. My reasons for not being a huge fan of the NS isn't so much the mundane paint scheme, but more to the fact that I spent three years of hell working for the company in the late 80's. One thing I did enjoy was working with some of the best railroaders I know. They put up with a lot of BS and did a great job in spite of the harsh management style that ruled the Chicago Terminal then. For their sake, I hope things have improved. While it's neat to see a fleet of heritage locos running around, what's more important is the people who operate them, maintain them and the rest of the property, the people who ensure their safe passage in one way or another.
