A flurry of chirping black-capped chickadees surrounded me, drawing my attention in various directions, when this pair of House Finches (Carpodacus mexicanus) landed on an old weathered Douglas-fir branch right in front of me. They paused long enough for a few frames. Here is a male and female together. They appear to be looking at each other, but more likely they are watching me quite closely.
