Lion-O (2011)

Actually kind of forgot about this guy. Lion-O is by far my favorite of the new designs. I really like the armor and they kept the sword relatively the same (ulike 200X He-Man). I don't think he's too terrible a toy either not by any stretch. I can totally see kids really diggin these. The sculpt is pretty solid and you can do quite a bit with the articulation:

-neck (swivel)

-shoulders (ball joint)

-elbows (hinge; left is severely limited w/ the shield on)

-forearms (swivel)

-waist (swivel)

-hips (ball joint)

-knees (hinge)

-ankles (hinge)

Not to bad really though bicep movement would've been great as he can't hold the sword up in the "Thundercats Ho!" pose as-is. While I still think he looks much better than the six version of this costume and for half the price but he doesn't hold a candle to Hasbro's offerings in the same scale.

I do have more complaints w/ this one than I did w/ the bigger Classic one. The biggest one is god awful black pins/joints and particularly the visble pins on either side of each shoulder. They pretty much crap all over what would be an otherwise good aesthetic. Also, with the exception of the shin guards, there is no paint on the lower legs which mean when you bend his kness you get the orange color of the back of the legs. Looks funny and cheap. Also the blue isn't painted on for the end of each pant leg and niether are the straps that connect to the shin armor.

The sculpts on the weapons are pretty good, though the short sword looks lackluster as sin, but they look really cheap. The grey plastic just doesn't work on the swords they really should have been painted and while I appreciate the red but notice that the iris one the Eye of Thundera isn't painted. Cheap. The armor on his right shoulder is a bit of an eyesore for similar reasons.

If you're buying these in person I'd recommend taking care in choosing the best paint apps particularly around the face and the belt emblem.
