I was trying to do a "best of 2009" series for my blog. This is sort of a fun thing to do, because I didn't start seriously shooting until March. I had a tiny point and shoot that I would take out on hiking/workout trips and shoot on the sly. This was back before I admitted that's what I wanted to do! I had no idea a month later I'd be back at this same bridge shooting with someone that's actually good and trying to learn photography for real!
So it's sort of funny going through the files on my computer and finding all these photo trips I was making back when I didn't have the confidence to really try. Above is one of the only outings I made in February. (I actually think I had more, but this camera was stolen before I pulled some stuff off the card...) I know it's a little late, but I guess I want to give my Thanksgiving thanks.
I'm thankful for photography for giving me a way to finally settle my nerves. Thanks photography for giving me an excuse to grow and explore. Thanks photography for giving me an "inner-happiness" as my friends call it.
I'm thankful my house was broken into in February 2009, because this camera that took this shot was stolen. When something bad happens I try to use it bounce back stronger and better. I used replacing my camera as an excuse to buy all the fancy stuff I have now. I realized how much I liked it and I haven't looked back. This has been a crazy-good year.
I'm thankful for Flickr and all the friends I've made here. You guys share one of my greatest joys *every*day* and it means the world to me.
