Heading Down Into Overstreet
3rd Falls
Overstreet Creek
Jessamine Creek Gorge Nature Preserve
Jessamine County
Kentucky
With a wind advisory for Saturday I was on the fence about going out shooting but since it wasn't supposed to start till in the afternoon myself and good friend Adam Thompson - The Serialphotog headed out and decided to hit the Jessamine Creek Gorge in Jessamine County, Kentucky. Located in the Palisades of the Kentucky River I had a feeling that the watershed which sits deep below the surrounding hillside wouldn't be as affected by the predicted winds. For the most part we were correct and descended in what I quickly realized that this creek was one of the prettier I've seen in the state and was loaded with several 3 to 12 foot waterfalls with the final drop being a 40 foot beauty. This here is the third significant waterfall down the shed and outside of the main drop was the prettiest on the stream. Fall was in full force here and where most of the hike down we encountered little wind, here close to the cliffs it was a different story. It was quite blustery and it required a bit of patience to wait for it to settle down between compositions but in the end it turns out I came away with several shots I love from this falls and the many falls upstream!
