P8192172 Minerva
Minerva (with her mom, Narcissus, who was adopted while I was there. I had been toying with the idea of taking both together).
I filled out an application for Minerva, but I wasn't pre-approved (it's generally a 2-7 day wait), so couldn't take her the same day.
In the meantime, Jamie and I went to another shelter and adopted Maverick, a grey and white tuxedo-style kitten. Then when I went back to see Minerva, (Jamie had gone back out of town already) there was a couple there who wanted to adopt her RIGHT THEN, so I dropped my application and they took her home right away. (She was adopted with another kitten about the same age, Fergie, a dilute calico. A few weeks earlier, I had considered taking Fergie and her sister Diana, a bright calico, but I sort of wanted a boy/girl pair, and somehow, they didn't feel like they belonged to me.).
I still wonder about finding the "right kitten" - timing, first impressions, impulses...
Minerva seemed like the "perfect cat" - small, tuxedo, healthy...and this was a biggie...she seemed as soft as Bill was. There have been only 3 cats since I stared visiting shelters who were as soft as Bill. And one was way back in January when Bill was still living with us, so the timing there was simply not right.)
