Vest Pocket to 35mm Mod
Here is the crudest way to modify your Kodak Vest Pocket to use 35mm film. The first item pictured is a small film container from a Dakota brand disposable 35mm film camera available from Ritz/Wolf Camera stores. Some Fuji disposalbes use the same cartridge.
To load film into this cartidge you will simply need to pop the cartridge open with a little screw driver. You will then need to open up a 35mm film canister and reroll the film very tight to get it to fit into the cartridge (you will need to do this in a darkroom or darkroom bag)
You may have trouble getting the cartridge to fit into you camera, to resolve this issue you will need to make a slight modification. The tabs of the side that hold the cartridge togather will need to be bent back, this way you can close the cartridge tighter and slide it right into your camera.
Now line your film up with your winding spool and tape it together, so you can wind your film around it easily.
I cut a piece of foam board and glued it to the back of my bellows to control image size, this is not a necessary step.
The final thing I did was to figure out approximately how many exposures I could get out of a 24exp roll of 35mm film. For this I used a Sharpie marker and drew lines defining the top and bottom of each exposed frame and numbered them. You will also want to count the number of turns it takes to get to each exposure.
