Post crest

The Mississippi River crested last weekend at Fountain City with the BNSF tracks still dry by a couple of feet. Sunday morning I parked near the closed boat landing in hopes of seeing an eastbound train and water lining both sides of the track. Of course it was all quiet for the half hour I waited. Five minutes after I left this spot the first eastbound passed and the trains ran like streetcars the rest of the day. With several house projects half done I kept on working and just watched the parade. I still need to get out the shots from 2001 when there was 6 inches of water over the track at this spot.
