Morane-Saulnier Type AI (MoS 30) and MS 35 Parasol aero[planes seen during a French aviation meeting during 1921 - 1922 [France, 1921 - 1922]
This picture taken by an anonymous photographer during an aviation meeting in France during 1921 - 1922 shows two Morane-Saulnier parasol wing planes which participated in this meeting.
In the foreground is the Morane-Saulnier Type AI [French military identification MoS.30. Its parasol wing is fixed to the fuselage by complex structure of metal structure, adding to the strength of the construction. In this way this single-seat fighter could manoeuvre sharply in fights without damage in the structure, or even (part of) the wings falling off. This Type AI / Mos 30 was powered by a Le Rhone rotary engine rated between 120 hp to 135 hp. At least four of these Type AI parasol wing machines were entered in the French civil register as MS XXX (sic) Type AI with registrations F-ABAD, F-ABAO, F-ABAP and F-ABAQ in 1920. It might be one of these four which were present at this aviation meeting.
More to the rear is the Morane-Saulnier MS.35 F-ADDI which as a trainer was much lighter built and was not used for aerobatics.
As with the other negatives this one was slightly damaged but after some touching up still of a reasonable quality. Only one final negative to go in this series of pictures shot at an aviation meeting in France held during 1921 - 1922.
