SOUTH CHINA SEA (Oct. 16, 2012) - The amphibious transport dock ship USS Denver (LPD 9) approaches Military Sealift Command dry cargo and ammunition ship USNS Richard E. Byrd (T-AKE 4) as an SA-330J Puma helicopter prepares to transport cargo to the forward-deployed amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) during a replenishment at sea (RAS). Bonhomme Richard is currently participating in the Amphibious Landing Exercise (PHIBLEX). PHIBLEX is an annual bilateral exercise held in conjunction with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and is designed to improve interoperability, increase readiness and develop professional and personal relationships between U.S. and Philippine forces.
