Westbound UP "Heartland of America Tour" Passenger Train at Manhattan, KS

The Big Boy rolls past the original snow hood US&S R-2 Signals at a little spot near MP 115 on the old KP Line called Swamp Angel with UP Train PKCDV 17 as the engine and train makes its way west on the UP Salina Sub.

The "Heartland of America Tour" left Cheyenne in late August and traveled through 10 states before arriving back home 8 weeks later in late October with several thousand miles under its belt, including a few hundred of those on track that had never before seen a 4-8-8-4. 4014 was built in November 1941, weighs in at 600 tons, put in 1,031,205 miles during its first career, and was restored to operation in 2019.
