This is a set of six images. Emmanuel Episcopal Church is located in the Chatham Historical District, Chatham, Virginia and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The original church, built of weatherboard and wood frame, replaced an earlier 1844 structure church at the same location. In 1917 the building was renovated with stretcher bond yellow brick. It’s a cross-gable Gothic Revival building with a small spire to the right and a belfry to the right. The spire has a cone roof and recessed detailing in the brick. The tower has a very steep roof, open Gothic arch windows to the bell, an entrance with wide Gothic arch and a door also showing the pointed nature of the arch. The apse is at the rear of the church; on the front are 3 lancet Tiffany stained glass windows. Atop the front gable is a cross. The windows in images #5 and 6 are on the side.
