Labyrinth Spider in its shelter
This is small Labyrinth Spider (genus Metepeira, Araneidae) in its shelter in the woods today. These orb-weaver spiders build a proper orb web with a separate little house suspended by a tangle of cobwebs off to the side. In time they decorate their houses with the bodies of their prey, pirate fashion, see this photo. I already have my two photos for the Web Wednesday group, but Happy Web Webnesday anyway!
