Stink Bug on a leaf of California Coffeeberry
I found this "true bug" (Heteroptera, Hemiptera) on a leaf of native California Coffeeberry (Frangula californica, Rhamnaceae) in the woods today. I believe it's some kind of Stink Bug in the family Pentatomidae - the prefix "penta" means five, and you can see its five-segmented antennae in my photo. There are many different kinds, so 'nuff said. (San Marcos Pass, 26 September 2021)
