Stink Bug in the family Pentatomidae of Chaparral Pea
I found this "true bug" (Heteroptera, Hemiptera) on a branch of native Chaparral Pea (Pickeringia montana, Fabaceae) in the woods today. I believe it's some kind of Stink Bug in the family Pentatomidae - the prefix "penta" means five, and you can see its five-segmented antennae in my photo. There are many different kinds, so 'nuff said. (San Marcos Pass, 13 September 2021)
