Cryptically colored Crab Spider - in the bed of my truck!
This is a Crab Spider (Thomisidae) with cryptic colors that I found on the bed liner of my truck today. I don't know what it was doing in the bed of my truck, and it quickly got away from me when I lowered the tailgate. I guess this spider is a male, though it seems to be missing a palp. I reckon it's either genus Xysticus or Ozyptila or Coriarachne or Bassaniana - one of those groups of similar cryptically colored spiders. I have another recent photo of a similar spider in here, though I think that one has stubbier front legs. Whatever kind this one is, it's an interesting spider and a surprise to find in my truck.
