Twining tendrils of native Wild Sweetpea (Lathyrus vestitus, Fabaceae)
These are twining tendrils of native Wild Sweetpea (Lathyrus vestitus) in the Fabaceae plant family. I was thinking of this for the Macro Mondays assignment this week with the theme of "Fasteners" - see the description here. The tendrils do indeed fasten the plant to other plants (and itself), but the group describes a fastener as "a device that attaches something firmly to something else". I don't believe this counts because the tendrils are part of the things attached and not something extra, so I have to think of something else - but this is still a nice photo to post here! (San Marcos Pass, 16 February 2018)
Like yesterday, today was clear and warm - though there's still a breeze, and it's still chilly at night. I took my usual walk in the canyon. It seems that I really have to hunt for subjects to photograph right now.
