The Thurner RS was constructed and produced in Bernbeueren in the Allgäu, a German Alpine region, from 1969 to 1974 in 120 examples by the insurance salesman Rudolf Thurner.
It was based on the chassis from the NSU 1200TT redesigned to a length of 3,95 meters following the example set of the legendary Porsche 904 with plastic bodywork and wing doors on a steel tube framework.
