Chicago is the largest city in the U.S. and my hometown birthplace where I was raised.
Home also to more than 2.8 million people it is the third largest city in the United States and the third-most densely populated major city in the U.S.A.
Located on the southwestern shores of Lake Michigan it is known as the 'windy city' because it is believed to be situated in an arctic airway tunnel between Canada and the state of Illinois.
fun facts
In the late 1800's Chicago had almost entirely burnt down.
The fire lasted from Sunday, October 8 and burned to early Tuesday October 10, 1871, killing hundreds and destroying several square miles, it was eventually rebuilt and modernized and is now considered to be the birthplace of the skyscraper.
Today, Chicago has the distinction of being the only city in the world with more than one completed building containing at least 100 floors:
(1) The tallest building in Chicago is the 108-story Willis Tower (formerly Sears Tower), which rises 1,451 feet (442 m).
(2) The second tallest building in Chicago is the Trump International Hotel & Tower,
(3) The Aon Center comes in as the third tallest
(4) And the John Hancock Center stands in fourth place respectively.
