Thanks to Nikki Willson for letting me work with one of her photographs. Her original photograph is magical.
One of my favorite paintings is Carmencita Playing (see below) by Antonio López García. While Nikki Willson's photograph is in most repects quite different than that painting I think it was the common rooftop setting and the shared focus on archetypal gestures of youth (imaginative concentration and ecstatic play) that inclined me to take this image in the direction of ALG's work.
