I say "system" because the gadget in the raised "bandstand" behind the gun mount is an essential part - the gun director. While the gun mount could be aimed manually (and everyone who's ever visited the battleship climbs into the seats and turns the cranks to do so), the director would do it via electric motors - with much greater accuracy.
