Phantom Spook Gunslinger

The artwork adorning the Phantom's air intakes shows a pride in being equipped with a cannon as well as air to air missiles. The F-4C did not have an integral cannon and had to carry one in a pod mounted beneath the fuselage. The later USAF F-4E Phantom model had an integral cannon mounted under the nose.

 

The fellow holding the gun pod is know as Spook or Phantom Man and is the official mascot of the F-4 Phantom.
