While strolling along the tributary, I encountered the mute swans we had seen being chased off the week before. They were very close to shore this time, so I was able to put myself in a good spot for some good close-ups. It wasn't until I was processing the photos that I realized one of the pair (seen here) is missing the tip of its upper beak. Gives it a bit of an underbite look.

Bernard has a few goat-like tendencies...like eating everything and kicking when he's startled. He's very educated in Norse Mythology and loves to learn new things about Vikings; his theory is that the they head-butted to settle their disputes. His underbite used to bother him, but now he kind of likes it; it helps get those hard-to-reach tin can lids.
