Groynes reduce longshore transport by trapping beach material and causing the beach orientation to change relative to the dominant wave directions. They mainly influence bedload transport and are most effective on shingle or gravel beaches. Sand is carried in temporary suspension during higher energy wave or current conditions and will therefore tend to be carried over or around any cross-shore structures. Groynes can also be used successfully in estuaries to alter nearshore tidal flow patterns.
A few times a year I have a mini-origami-meeting with a friend, who also love to fold ;-)). Today is such a day. We each select some models to fold and this time I choose this abstract origami model, called "A trapped love", where a cube is surrounded by a thick "line".
When assembling this model you put in the cube halfway, because once the "line" is finished, you can't put the cube in. And when it is "trapped" inside, you can't take the cube out without destroying this "line".
I put the model on a mirror, so I hope you see the "line" better ;-)
It's an idea by Hans -Werner Guth and he was inspired by the origami "Umulius Rectangulum" by Thoki Yenn.

The spider spun her web with pride, a fortress of threads and hunger. But the killer bug came cloaked in stillness, tiptoeing the lattice she thought was hers. One touch with the long fang and the hunter was trapped. One shot of this drama in nature.

Churning, bubbling, boiling and basically near explosion. It was trapped for so long within, unable to come out. Kept trapped in a prison of protection. Perhaps this was the only way to survive, to not reveal wounds that take lifetimes to heal.
This was his vow, to forever maintain control. No matter how much the dragon was begging him to release, to look up into the flaming sky and just...let go.
Because control equal strength. Opening up was a weakness. He had to maintain his strength to harness as much power. Yet, what he did not realize that with power comes a great sacrifice. To be invisible, to be alone and most of all, to be never understood.
Not everyone is patient in digging for the multiple keys to help him release his fire. Maybe one day he will realize the beauty in being free and facing any consequences as long as he is true to himself.

This capture of the macro at f/2.8 really makes that bokeh pop in the 'hard light'. You can compare this to the one at f/22 below in the comments. This may be my submittal to Macro Monday this week.
Flight home was cancelled due to bad weather, had an opportunity to capture one last morning before returning home
A cherry tomato, complete with green topper trapped in a block of ice along with lots of air bubbles. Is it me, or does look like it's trying to escape?
Trap is Baited I will lay here and for my prey, then he starts dozing off, been there for a couple of hours now eventually he will get up and come to eat, then nap some more, found in North Carolina.

I found this growing from the birdbath one icy morning. About 2 inches high with loads of air bubbles trapped inside, which are lit by the early morning sun. It looks like a whirlpool frozen in place to me.

This beached log was trapped here on this small sandy beach between rocky formations on the Oregon coast.
From Wikipedia... "The composition of sand varies, depending on the local rock sources and conditions, but the most common constituent of sand in inland continental settings and non-tropical coastal settings is silica, usually in the form of quartz. The second most common type of sand is calcium carbonate. An example, aragonite, has mostly been created, over the past half billion years, by various forms of life, like coral and shellfish."
