On our back yard fence, this leaf, and the vine it's attached to, have survived the elements, including sun, heavy rain and winds, for months. Even in a very stiff wind, when other dried leaves on the fence are fluttering, it does not move.

Friends, I expected to 'graduate' from Planet Earth this month. But, due to a very surprising development, that has changed. I now have at least a few more weeks, possibly more, here in this body. Quite a roller coaster ride. I will continue to post photos on Flickr and on Facebook as long as I am able to.

Thank you very much for your kind interest in and support of my photography, and well-being. I am grateful. ♥

Going to work. - clearing the road as I crawled, very slowly, down the icy track. I was nearly three hours late!

This is why I bought a quad bike!!

Today - 25 January, 2020 - it’s mild, wet and windy.

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Ash tree on limestone, facing Whernside, Yorkshire Dales.

Natural woodland is scarce in the UK uplands, from centuries of preference for pasturing sheep in particular. Lately, the remnant native ash trees of the Dales are direly threatened by disease ...

Why might this matter? Because woodland is a natural climax that creates & maintains soil fertility along with ecological diversity. And it could be argued that as humans, for our mental & planetary health we need trees.

But we are all mortal, as is the planet we ride on and the universe in which it sings.

Who knows where we're headed?

I don't know the name of this wild vine, but there are lots of them that grow around the trees and cling to the fences here at home.

The yellow in this scene is a field of wild buttercup and the vertical lines are intersecting fence posts. HFF!

In spite of the cold, frost, and winter we have had, these leaves just hang on.

Photographers were busy working at sunset time in White Sands NP

Now honestly, which vehicle would you prefer to be driving through a snow storm??

I do have to admire the abilities of the Mennonites to handle their horses through such difficult driving conditions. They always seem so vulnerable on the highway and especially when there are other drivers who don't seem to realize that slowing down for a moment just isn't that onerous.

The driver of this buggy was on a rather busy road and fortunately, on this particular day, everyone was giving him a wide berth but driving through the slush and mud on the side of the road certainly looked like a challenge.

I'll bet that horse was happy to get home to his warm barn and his bag of oats after the journey on this road.

I've changed the title because of a very good suggestion from: silver/halide

Thanks John!

Completely burned in 2017, this little part of forest on the mountain above my home has managed to recover. a tribute to the tenacity of nature..

Fascinated me as to how these tiny yellow flowers are springing out of what is pretty poor soil. Despite a challenging environment they have prevailed.

TENACITY and PERSISTENCE in achieving goals

Always go ahead, set new goals each time and fulfill them. You can fall nine times, but you have to get up ten and get stronger and step higher. The key to success is clear planning and tactics. Ability to think, count and see two steps ahead of their opponents. Use new ideas and scientific advances for your own purposes. Reasonable audacity, the ability to take risks and courage in actions are the qualities of a real Emperor.

Alexander, in his desire to follow the heroic paradigm, naturally placed great value on honor, and with it to the virtues of self-control and self-denial. He always went forward, having a great goal and fulfilling it without fear, inspiring many people, changing history and the map of the earth.

White Sands National Park

The dune field is very dynamic, with the most active dunes moving to the northeast at a rate of up to 30 feet per year, while the more stable areas of sand move very little.

As they move, plants get slowly buried, as is happening here, or their roots can be exposed. It is a tough place to make a living!

Ok so try as I might to do these as per online tutorials, I'm not admitting defeat but acknowledging the fact that with limited physical reserves that I must improvise. This was taken hand held with my right hand using in built flash , whilst holding the seed head in my left hand using tweezers against a background of a piece of blue card.

I loved the tenacity of this little leaf, still standing when all others have gone.
