had this idea since October as well. i have tons of photo ideas from the October 2012 that I never did and I'm trying to go back and do them.
i think what kept me from doing this was the lack of studs.
Many thanks to my Flickr friend John Tomsett who guided me in the right direction for these. My first ever sightings of these beauties. There were at least a dozen in the area I went to in the Ashdown Forest and by careful observation I was able to get the macro lens within a few inches of them. John, I am indebted to you Sir. I took about 200 images and have some great keepers.

W.A. Young Machine Shop and Foundry
Rices Landing, PA
This shop was built in 1900. It was closed in 1969 and left the way it was on its last day of operation with machinery and tools dating as far back as 1870.
The shop is beside the Monongahela River in southwestern Pennsylvania. It specialized in repairing barges, tug boats, and other river vessels and making replacement parts.
Even the tiny metal shavings or filings remain on the tools.

Lego studs on some thick material that is woven with a striped pattern. Used a 12 mm extension tube, tripod and remote shutter control, spot lit from one side.

66430 awaits the passage of 170425 out of the single line section south of Blair Atholl with the platform aid for the visually impaired providing some foreground interest.
I watched couples as they quivered, whirred and circled each other for a second or two. They are easy to watch as they are so busy and they fly so low. They are quite small, 25 - 32mm wingspan.

'EXTRAORDINARY MEETING WITH A BUTTERFLY.'
When I visited Lindrick Common to photograph butterflies, I never imagined for one moment that I would have such an intimate encounter with this male Silver-studded Blue.
I didn't find him, he found me and landed on my t-shirt. Crawling over the cotton he began probing with his proboscis to extract salts ... I presume (?) ... from traces of my perspiration. Although he made occasional short flights, he always returned so I decided to sit on the grass and watch. Gross though it may seem to some, his fascinating performance prompted me to work out how I could take a photograph with one hand!
As if reading my mind, once he returned and obligingly landed on my rucksack. Problem solved, I had both hands free to adjust settings and use the camera. This image is one of the results and gives quite a nice side view of him. It shows the tip of his proboscis inserted between the strong strap fibres. It does leave me wondering if I ought to switch brands of anti-perspirant though!!! :-)

A modular skyscraper that is the home of “The Daily Stud”, which delivers the latest news through the city!
This is by far my biggest build and it was also the most challenging one. It also took extremely long from the first digital design to the final build, since I was unable to move a stud for almost 2 years, due to building a real house. ;-) Most of the design was actually finished almost 3 years ago, so quite a bit before LEGO released the Daily Bugle. When that happened I lost the motivation to really finish it, but I finally re-visited it some months ago to finally finish it.
The skyscraper has 8 floors, which are fully furnished. It sits on two standard baseplates, is 107cm high and weighs about 16,2kg. The build contains 22.801 pieces and consists of 9 modules. It can be easily integrated into existing city layouts following the modular standard.
