Carly's plant. One of the only ones we've manages to keep alive. Got too close with the fisheye, so only that leaf in the middle is in focus.

Day 5 - Sharp (and clearly the focus on the picture was not sharp but I only had my phone with me & not my Canon - must learn to carry it at all times!!!)
This sharp-tailed snake (Contia tenuis) was found in one of my plots in Mill Hill Regional Park in Langford. One of the rarest snakes in Canada and under threat of extinction due to habitat loss from development, these elusive critters, about the size of a pencil, spend most of their time underground and are almost never seen on the surface. However, this one was casually nestled down in the moss by a rock when I found it. This sighting documents an entirely new location for this species so I was excited to tell my friend Christian, who researches these snakes, about it.
