Okay this has got to be one of the harder photos for me to post. I know, crazy right?! Why is self love so hard? I had a hard time even deciding what to write for my #onebeautifulthought, then felt myself tearing up when I wrote it. It's allowing yourself to be you, and saying yes you are okay, you are beautiful and smart and funny and you are ENOUGH. It's not easy that's for sure, but I think that maybe life might be a bit easier if we were nicer to ourselves, and more accepting.
A friend posted this latest Dove Campagin for beauty, www.huffingtonpost.ca/2015/03/16/dove-one-beautiful-thoug...? the woman who said that the words are so violent made me start to tear up. We are mean and violent to ourselves and it is absolutely not necessary. I immediately shared it on my FB saying how I "Love this!!" and to "be nice to yourselves". I didn't post a #OneBeautifulThought. At the same time I was texting with a friend that she is beautiful and amazing, and thought well I guess I better give myself some love.
A few days ago I was going to post about my "mean Angela" voice/thoughts that seem to appear when times are tough and I am sleep deprived. I worry I can't handle being a single mom, that my son will be a hooligan, that if I call in sick I will lose my job and then can't provide for my family and on and on. I know that they aren't rational thoughts and that they are emotionally driven, but I still have them. I am learning that everyone does. Life is hard, life is harder when social media and advertising and everywhere you look shows you how to become beautiful, smarter, funnier, richer, better and perfect.

Everyone has their ah-ha moments and light bulbs, for me it is 100% minimalism. It has allowed me to get rid of all the stuff (physical and emotional) that was piled high along my path that had me at a stand still. Now that i have gotten rid of it I feel like I have many paths I can choose to take.

The high gods and goddesses were now like dust beneath Shimmerah’s polished boots. She ran her smooth latex-clad hands over her body, while vibrating toys ensured she remained in a state of perpetual arousal. She stood within the void of existence and non-existence. All power was hers, and every superverse was under her control; whatever she desired, she had only to conceive, and it would manifest. She giggled with greed, knowing what she had seized and confident that her allure was impossible to resist. Aware of her status as an unparalleled goddess of supreme beauty, she deleted all superverses and recreated them, ensuring she remained their sole ruler.
She knew there was more beyond her current reach, yet she remained ungrateful for how far she had come. Craving more, she whispered to herself in a seductive tone, "If there is more, it must be mine. The one at the summit shall bow and worship me, and their throne shall be mine." She giggled, using her powers to perceive all things and identify her needs: the Crown of Control. This artifact granted its wearer absolute authority; whatever the wearer commanded, all others were compelled to obey. Should they refuse, their powers—regardless of magnitude—would be drained into the one who wore the crown. Shimmerah knew the crown had been cast into the void of greed, alongside many other overpowered artifacts.
Shimmerah teleported into the Void of Greed, located beneath the fifth rank. As she stood within the void, a being approached, stating, "I am the being of—"
Shimmerah interrupted, "Did I say you could speak?"
"But my—" the being began, only to be cut off again.
"Can't you see how stunningly beautiful I am? That means I get whatever I wish. I seek the Crown of Control." The entity appeared, prompting Shimmerah to demand, "How dare you?" The void then fractured into four distinct realms: a vast expanse of radiant gold gems, rings, and magic lamps; an endless sea of liquid gold leading to a towering, distant temple; a landscape of powerful red crystals struck by relentless lightning; and an infinite sea of pulsating black liquid beneath a sky consumed by a violent storm.
Shimmerah desired everything but did not know where to begin. She attempted to draw power from all sources simultaneously; however, it failed, as the power had been forged by beings beyond the seventh rank. Shimmerah walked across the black liquid sea, which she knew to be the Black Concupiscence. This was not merely sexual desire or lust, like pink-lust, but pure evil in its highest form, encompassing selfishness and absolute greed. It embodied profound depravity and perversion. Consuming it would render her selfish, greedy, lustful, sadistic, and narcissistic, while inducing extreme, impossible levels of sexual pleasure. Shimmerah’s eyes glowed with a golden-white power as her demon tail transformed into a latex phallus, penetrating her while her sex toys activated simultaneously.
She discovered the Crown of Control within a vault located 100 miles beneath the Sea of Black Concupiscence. She attempted to retrieve the crown or the vault using her powers, but they remained immovable. Instead, the sea pulled her deeper as its dark waters surged around her. Recognizing that the environment was a test designed to drive the wicked into a state of lustful insanity, Shimmerah dove into the sea and descended rapidly toward the vault. Upon reaching the crown, she donned it and teleported away, transformed into a burning latex devil consumed by intense arousal.

Another hard one - but I deliberately picked the suggestion that was scariest for me, because . . . well, that's the way I am. :)
In all honesty, I've been having a rough time with selfies this last month. After three and a half months of letting down defenses, of learning a new way to look at myself, I suddenly found it almost impossible to take a photo of myself. Every shot looked horrible to me; I posted some of them anyway, but I cringed as I did. My blossoming self-love and improving self-image was wilting away under my severe judgement. Not sure why this is happening, but I'm trying to just be patient and ride it out. It's had an impact on my participation in this class, which makes me sad.
But - today I decided it was time to be brave, so I did the one thing I hate to do: a full-body self-portrait. I decided I was not going to focus on how fat I think I look (how much does that really matter?), or worry about whether my ostomy bag shows from under my clothes (it probably doesn't as much as I think it does), and just stand in front of my mirror with kindness and acknowledgement of my own strength and beauty. So here I am: no filters, just a bit of a border. :)
