For islamic cultures in Spain ornate decor consisted uniquely of writings from the Q'ran and geometric designs repeated ad infinitum. (The inclusion of paintings, the drawing of figures, would come later from the Christians, a "Western" concept of interior design.) Representation in the mosque becomes the repetition of a tracing line, of the word.
When I saw Kim's final word for our "Quote Week," this verse immediately came to mind. It's so easy in my everyday life to get caught up in the cares and worries and concerns of this world and in my own personal challenges, that I sometimes forget to keep my heart and mind focused on Jesus. Everything that is good in my life and in this world comes from Him and Him alone. And He holds the whole world - and me - in His safe, capable hands...

On Thursday, April 6, 2023, we gathered together to remember "Maundy Thursday" - the day of the Last Supper, the prayers in the garden of Gethsamane, Jesus's arrest, and his trial before the Sanhedrin. We sang songs of praise, read scripture passages, and took Communion together.
