abandoned coal based power plant
Built for Andromeda's Gates on Eurobricks. I went with a function over form mentality for this build, as the processing plant actually works. You can fill the hopper, then open the trapdoor to let gold down onto the conveyor belt, which in turn is used to fill the dump truck. See it in action here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=TM0qFY4JgKE

One of the major of the events, is the distribution of offerings to the hungry ghosts, being regarded as "Good Brothers". Donated goods for the spirits include rice, fresh fruits, potato, dried noodles and in some events, clothes and toiletries.
After reading out the " Salvation Chant", the Chief Monk will tend instruct the participating public to place joss sticks, one or more on each of the offering item, signaling that it is made available for the spiritual world to enjoy.
During the process, “Dai Si Yeh" Guardian of Spirits will be overseeing a fair and orderly distribution among the hungry spirits.

About the Chinese Hungry Ghost Festival:
The Ghost Festival, also known as the Hungry Ghost Festival, or Yu Lan is a traditional Chinese festival and holiday celebrated by Chinese in many countries. In the Chinese calendar (a lunisolar calendar), the Ghost Festival is on the 15th night of the seventh month (14th in southern China).
In Chinese tradition, the fifteenth day of the seventh month in the lunar calendar is called Ghost Day and the seventh month in general is regarded as the Ghost Month (鬼月), in which ghosts and spirits, including those of the deceased ancestors, come out from the lower realm.
Distinct from both the Qingming Festival (in spring) and Chung Yeung Festival (in autumn) in which living descendants pay homage to their deceased ancestors, on Ghost Day, the deceased are believed to visit the living.
On the fifteenth day the realms of Heaven and Hell and the realm of the living are open and both Taoists and Buddhists would perform rituals to transmute and absolve the sufferings of the deceased. Intrinsic to the Ghost Month is ancestor worship, where traditionally the filial piety of descendants extends to their ancestors even after their deaths.
Activities during the month would include preparing ritualistic food offerings, burning incense, and burning joss paper, a papier-mâché form of material items such as clothes, gold and other fine goods for the visiting spirits of the ancestors

Proof of concept for another kind of mosaic involving 2 kinds of tiles, randomly shuffled.
I first read about this years ago, in a column or book by Martin Gardner, A.K. Dewdney, Douglas Hofstadter or Clifford Pickover. Or maybe somewhere else, but probably one of those four... My idols. :)

After almost 22 years of service for Safeguard, X307 CBT (along with sister 308) was retired in June 2023, and sold for “preservation” the following month to the “South England Transport Preservation Group”.
Unfortunately, it’s time in their care wasn’t the best as far as I’m aware, resulting in many complaints to Safeguard that summer about its use as a playbus at Chichester coach park and other locations on the south coast.
Then the “Southern Bus Preservation Group” offered assistance to the owner and 307 moved to their yard in Surrey during August.
But another trip to the Chichester area (where it’s owner resided) in early 2024 resulted in further adverse comments arriving at the Safeguard office.
In a surprise move, it was bought back by the company and delivered back to their depot on 27th February.
Another surprise was the arrival of a scrap dealer’s truck on 7th March, which took it away and it was sadly “processed” within 48hrs.
A very sad end for a fine bus, with still so much life left in it after being cosseted by Safeguard’s late Engineering Manager during it's long service life with the company.
It would be nice to say that parts of it will live on and aid sister bus 308 in the future, but annoyingly the process was so rapid there was no chance for me to even see 307 before departure, let alone acquire any parts for 308!
A very sad story.
In much better times, 307 is seen in service amongst the daffs for what would be the last time at the cathedral roundabout in Spring 2023.

...of putting the house back together.
Things are moving along slowly at the house, but they are moving.
EVERYTHING has been removed from the house to be cleaned, except for a few oversized pieces of bedroom furniture that would have had to go out a window and be lowered, in order to remove them from the house (the way they came in years ago.....we have very narrow butterfly steps...only small pieces of furniture can be carried up the stairs.)
Those pieces were cleaned on site. The inside of the house has now been "de-sooted"! .
Larry has a meeting on Monday with the carpenter, plumber and electrician and hopefully he'll find out when they can start the priming and painting .
I want these people to start doing their thing!!!
Meanwhile, Larry has decided there's no reason he can't put in the new kitchen ceiling.
This is one project I'm glad to get done.
If you remember, Larry replaced the ceiling not too long ago.
He put in the drop ceiling tile system.
You can choose from a large variety of tile patterns.
The first time around I saw a pattern that looked and was described as beadboard.
I thought it was exactly what I wanted for my farmhouse kitchen ceiling.
Unfortunately, sometimes things look different in person.
After Larry installed it, we were rather disappointed.
It didn't look AT ALL as I had imagined it would look. Instead of beadboard, it looked like the inside of a corrugated shipping container.
Larry even volunteered to just scrap the tiles and order new ones if I wanted.
In the end I decided to just live with it for awhile.
Time's up!
I'm liking my choice this time 100%!
It's not even done yet, but I am liking this ceiling 100% better!!
Just the first of about 100 projects Larry will probably be tackling these next couple of months.!
