The MIP480 uses a long life 4 mil character ribbon - in typical usage, this means you only have to change ribbons once every three or four months. The MIP480 can handle up to four part continuous forms - it can also print on single top glued forms giving you flexibility for future requirements.

I finally got a photo printer after accepting that the cost of home printing was worth the convenience. I ended up getting a Epson Photo 1400, which will print up to 13" x 19" The photo on the printer is a 8.5" x 11". My wife is happy to be able to print out more photos. I am hoping that we don't have to spend a lot of ink. So far I am happy with the quality of the prints.

After years of unhappy results with inkjets, I decided to try a "real name" printer. After much hemming and hawing, the Canon iP4000 stood out for its features and $129 price tag. It fits nicely in my work area, has five ink tanks and prints wonderfully.
Together with photo paper, I'm happy with the results for my usage. I'd still want to go to a professional printer for larger works, but for up to 8x10 prints and general colour copying, the quality is wonderful and the speed and silence are wonderful as well.
Am I happy? Oh baby, am I!

The black line is where the heat is created. When zooming in it looks like many inter-meshing fingers. The top row of fingers are all on the same potential, while the bottom fingers represent individual pixels. I assume that the black stuff is conductive and gets heated up if a pixel is active.
A type of printer that works by spraying ionized ink at a sheet of paper. Magnetized plates in the ink's path direct the ink onto the paper in the desired shapes. Ink-jet printers are capable of producing high quality print approaching that produced by laser printers. When the cartridge is correctly seated a red light glows beneath it.
... surely a duotone LED, red for bad green for good would have been better? Or just a green one.
