Apparently, a Blue Jay's feathers do not actually have a blue pigment. What we are seeing is the refracted sunlight which casts a blue light.
"Blue and green are oddball colors in the animal kingdom. They are structural colors. In birds, they are caused by microscopic structures in the feather that refract light like a prism. When this light passes through a dark layer of melanin, some wavelengths are filtered out, and the bird looks blue..." Blue jays, indigo buntings and bluebirds all get their color from structure, not pigment.

Sumakh ("vinegar tree")
This small tree or tall shrub has an exotic appearance and looks attractive all year round. Most representatives of the Sumac genus grow in warmer climates and the only representative that has acclimatized in the middle zone is the deer-horned sumac (Rhus typhina).
Why autumn leaves are so diverse and differ in many shades, not everyone knows. Most of the year, pigments are masked by a large amount of green chlorophyll. But in autumn, due to a decrease in the length of daylight hours and a decrease in temperature, active metabolic processes in the leaves stop, nutrients move from the foliage to the branches, trunk and root system, chlorophyll breaks down. Pigments of yellow and orange become visible, which gives the leaves their autumn splendor.
Unfortunately, we cannot independently influence the brightness of the color of the leaves, and in gloomy rainy weather sometimes we are left without a golden autumn parade. The only thing that can be done is to plant plants with decorative fall foliage in the sunniest places, since in partial shade the bright color may not appear or be less intense.
Now at the end of October, the grape leaves turn brightly. Many are yellow (for example Riesling), some are completely red, like the leaves of the dye grape (Teinturier) here. The grape variety is mainly grown to blend the dark must of this grape with low-pigment red wine varieties. The result is the dyer's wine.
I took the picture last weekend on the Ahr above Ahrweiler near the Altenwegshof excursion restaurant.

Got this name from its spoon-like bill, which has sensitive nerve ending at the tip.
To feed, it sweeps its bill in water and snaps it shut when a prey is detected.
The spoonbill feeds on shrimps which contain a carotenoid pigment that gives its feathers the pink colour.
But as autumn approaches, certain influences both inside and outside the plant cause the chlorophylls to be replaced at a slower rate than they are being used up. During this period, with the total supply of chlorophylls gradually dwindling, the "masking" effect slowly fades away. Then other pigments that have been present (along with the chlorophylls) in the cells all during the leaf's life begin to show through. These are carotenoids they give us colorations of yellow, brown, orange, and the many hues in between.
The reds, the purples, and their blended combinations that decorate autumn foliage come from another group of pigments in the cells called anthocyanins. These pigments are not present in the leaf throughout the growing season as are the carotenoids. They develop in late summer in the sap of the cells of the leaf, and this development is the result of complex interactions of many influences - both inside-and outside the plant. Their formation depends on the breakdown of sugars in the presence of bright light as the level of a certain chemical (phosphate) in the leaf is reduced.
But in the fall, phosphate, along with the other chemicals and nutrients, moves out of the leaf into the stem of the plant. When this happens, the sugar-breakdown process changes, leading to the production of anthocyanin pigments. The brighter the light during this period, the greater the production of anthocyanins and the more brilliant the resulting color display that we see. When the days of autumn are bright and cool, and the nights are chilly but not freezing, the brightest colorations usually develop.

Dimanche dernier, je suis allé faire une marche avec Rio dans le parc à côté de chez moi. La lumière matinale était tellement belle. J'y suis retourné après la marche du chien.
Last Sunday, I went for a walk with Rio in the park next to my house. The morning light was so beautiful. I had to return after walking the dog.

Haedong Yonggungsa (해동용궁사, Hanja 海東龍宮寺) stands strikingly on the seaside cliffs of Gijang-gun (기장군), Busan (부산), making it one of the rare Korean Buddhist temples built along the coast. According to legend, the monk Naong Hyegeun (나옹 혜근, 1320–1376) dreamed that the Sea God of the East would bring rain if a temple were constructed atop Mount Bongnae (봉래산). In response, Bomun Temple (보문사) was established in 1376 but was later destroyed during the Imjin War of 1592. The site was revived in the 1930s by the monk Ungang (운강), who renamed it Haedong Yonggungsa. The temple complex, anchored by its Daeungjeon Main Hall (대웅전) completed in 2005, now venerates Haesu Gwaneum Daebul (해수관음대불), the Sea-Water Bodhisattva of Compassion.
A hallmark of Haedong Yonggungsa is its dancheong (단청)—the traditional Korean decorative painting applied to wooden structures using five symbolic colors (blue, red, white, black, and yellow), intended both to embellish and to shield from the elements and insects. Throughout the Daeungjeon, visitors can find numerous dragon-head carvings (용두, yongdu) adorning beam ends and roof eaves, their manes and scales highlighted with layers of mineral pigments and gilded accents.

Históricamente, han simbolizado la pureza, la eternidad y el amor incondicional.
Los pavos reales blancos son el resultado de una mutación genética llamada leucismo, que provoca que el pigmento no se deposite en sus plumas.

Copigmentation is a phenomenon where color is enhanced by the presence of other, generally non-colored molecules that change the absorbance and sometimes even the maximum wavelength of the absorbance of a material. It is responsible for the extraordinary blue-purple pigment in Japanese irises (and other things like red wine) such as this iris ensata found growing wild in Seattle, Washington, USA.
I thought this bird might be a hybrid between Canada Goose and some other species, maybe Greater White-fronted Goose, mainly due to the orange bill. But the reviewer for eBird said it is simply a Canada Goose lacking pigment. Live and learn.

Waterfall Climbing Cave Fish
Found in just two caves in Thailand, these fish lack eyes and their skin has no pigment. But they have enlarged fins, which they use to hold onto or climb up rocks in fast moving streams. This species belongs to a family of fishes, hillstream loaches (Balitoridae), that use their fins for climbing. But the cave fish has larger fins than hillstream loaches that live above ground.
