… when at rest, deers in Bushy Park, particularly bucks, are often visited by magpies and crows who appear to feed on their parasites. It looks like a perfectly happy mutual relationship :-)
Inside Ciutat Vella (old town) and on the way from the cathedral to Santa Maria del Mar, turn onto the carrer del Sotstinent Navarro towards the Muralla Romana (Roman Walls) and the Palau Requesens - the home of the Royal Academy of Letters in Plaça d'Emili Vilanova.
But (there's always a "but") when I got there, I turned my back on all these wonders, admiring the harmony of the two buildings facing the plaza.
On the right is the Casa Santana i Soler, built between 1918 and 1921 by architect Albert Joan i Torner.
I couldn't find any information about the "partner" building on the left, but I'm pretty sure it would be very lonely if either were missing.

Helgoland: Breeding partners
I'm so glad to hear that the first birds have arrived on Helgoland. Last year was hard on them because so many died of the avian flu. Let's keep our fingers crossed that the gannet colony will survive!

Northern class 150 unit 150104 (partnered with 150138) departs Blackpool South with the 3.16pm to Colne (2N78).
With a scheduled 4 minute turnaround at this terminus, there's barely time for the driver to walk from one end of the train to the other before setting off again. On this day the turnaround was even tighter seeing as arrival from Colne was 2 minutes late.
Blackpool South, with its single platform and evidence of former glories en route, is very much the Cinderella line into this popular northern seaside town. In fact a significant part of the remaining platform has been abandoned to nature, as seen in this shot. By contrast Blackpool North is vibrant, recently electrified, and boasts fast direct services to London Euston. No surprise It also handles the vast majority of passenger arrivals and departures.
I arrived into this station on a sunny Sunday afternoon and walked the two miles or so along the bracing, enjoyable and ever vibrant promenade before waltzing back inland to North Station for the rather faster ride back to Preston.
A bit of a record shot so I'm not expecting a ten from Len. Sure I spotted Madge though.....

Early spring, 2024: mating season for aquatic newts on my NC property. This male is swimming beneath the female to both display himself and put his nose in the appropriate spot to assess readiness.
A few moments later, the male grabbed the female from behind. They curled into a spinning ball as he wrestled her to the bottom and then deposited his sperm package on a leaf for his partner to uptake through an opening called a cloaca, leading to her sex organ.
Though not a very romantic union, the birthing process is surprisingly tender. The female lays 2 or 3 eggs per day, gently nestling them in floating plant roots for protection. Hatchlings remain there until ready to venture forth.

Richard was in the central headquarters, his brow furrowed as he looked at the young man who had just entered the room. "Who's this kid?" he asked authoritatively, turning to the boss for answers.
The boss approached and introduced the young man as their new colleague, meant to replace Pablo, who was hospitalized. "Richard, this is Alex, our new recruit," the boss announced with a cheerful tone.
Richard nodded, but his expression still showed skepticism. "I'm not going to babysit rookies," he warned sternly, crossing his arms over his chest.
The boss assured him that Alex was an expert in computer systems and new technologies, although he lacked field experience. "He's a genius in his field," the boss added, trying to convince Richard of the young man's abilities.
Alex, aware of the tension in the room, stepped forward and extended his hand to Richard. "Nice to meet you, I'm Alex," he introduced himself with a nervous smile.
Richard shook Alex's hand firmly, evaluating the new recruit with attention. However, his expression softened slightly upon hearing the young man's words.
Alex took the opportunity to share what he had found out about the suspect who had recently escaped from them. "He was trying to plant some sort of bomb in the nuclear power plant," he reported, his tone filled with concern. "Although we're not clear on how he intended to activate it."
Richard nodded, processing the information. "What's the connection between this terrorist act and the forecast of a change in the timeline?" he asked aloud, looking to both the boss and Alex for answers.
"And furthermore, have we managed to deactivate the threat?" he added urgently, his tone reflecting the seriousness of the situation.
The boss shook his head with regret. "We haven't been able to deactivate the threat yet," he admitted. "Perhaps we should try to contact someone from the ministry in the future, to understand exactly the extent of the change that could occur."
