The global response to the Haiti earthquake has been extraordinary and generous. But in the midst of all the reporting, it's difficult to keep track of the numbers. In particular, who has given what, who has dug deepest, and how the Haiti relief fund compares to those of other tragedies.
These are the contributions to the Haiti Earthquake recovery effort as of 24th January 2010.

The bird (statue) is protecting a 'round house' Roman-Celt' village recreated in a local , NW UK, nature reserve.
since it's sunday and i haven't posted an abundance of terribly boring tomato pictures in recent times, have these. coming soon: potato month.
this tomato passed through a few colour phases in the days i had it. it started off as a subtle purple with brown undertones, then lost most of the purple and looked very brown, finally winding up in this state (brown and red with some green patches) before i cut it up and ate it (fearing it would transform into a creeping slug or some awful disco thing). the past couple of days and the next few may be dull for any tomato enemies since i like these shots and have no time to go out and look for blimp accidents or church explosions or other exciting events.
grown by a local farmer and sold to me by him and one of his staff without passing through the hands of any giant corporations or being shipped thousands of miles. that's what should happen with as much of our food as possible - if you agree, let the enemy of canada stephen harper know that you want the wheat board to continue representing farmers and not to allow multinational conglomerates to run and ruin our food.

La ONG católica Caritas Internationalis ha activado una página para donaciones. Esta organización ya estaba desarrollando labores de ayuda a las personas pobres en el país asiático, y ahora su labor será aún más difícil, pues según informa la ONG en su web, en la zona no funcionan los teléfonos móviles y las comunicaciones son muy complicadas.
También se puede colaborar con Médicos sin fornteras a traves de su página web donde se puede encontrar información y los pasos que están dando.

This is the improvement kind of the strawberry, we call this kind "Tochiotome".

same beautiful yellow heirloom tomato as yesterday, from the farm of a local friend. this one, like most yellows, was less acidic than usual, but still had decent flavour. the past couple of days and the next few may be dull for any tomato enemies since i like these shots and have no time to go out and look for blimp accidents or church explosions or other exciting events.

Hoppets Stjärna har arbetat i Haiti sedan 1970-talet och har stöttat barnhemmet Maison d'enfants par la Foi i förorten Carrefour utanför Haitis huvudstad Port-au-Prince.
På barnhemmet bor idag 125 barn och ungdomar i åldern 4-27 år. Många av de äldre ungdomarna vill gärna flytta men har ingenstans att ta vägen.
De flesta barnen är föräldralösa eller övergivna. Många har rymt hemifrån, från ett liv i misär och våld.
