Feliz dia de los Santos Inocentes y Dia de los Muertos
Shot this backstage last year at a runway show for H&MUA Academy Graduates. This artistic make-up was done by a very talented 16-year-old that was graduating from that beauty school.
Silver and purple shimmer across Aino Ilvesniemi’s face, where Betty Applepie shaped the Fashion Circus theme into a Dragon Skull Punk. Created on the second day of the competition, the makeup feels like a creature stepping out from beneath the circus lights, part armor, part myth, part rebellion.
Metallic contours trace the bones of an imagined dragon, while purple tones soften the steel with something dreamlike. It is a beautiful transformation, fierce and theatrical, yet held together by the quiet precision of every painted detail.

Jenna Luoma’s makeup turns Alesia’s face into a living canvas. Fine black lines travel across the skin like hand-drawn symbols, framing the eyes and giving the portrait an almost ritual presence. Coral and crimson tones burn through the gaze, while pale blossoms rise above them like a fragile crown. The contrast between precise geometry and soft petals makes the look feel both fierce and delicate — somewhere between mask, sculpture, and character.

She stood beneath the lights like a vision pulled from a darker myth. Blue roses, jeweled horns, and a face turned almost ghostly made her feel less like a model and more like an apparition called into the room. This was one of three live promo makeups created before an audience in Helsinki during the World Championship of Creative Makeup and the Nordic bodypainting awards. A performance, a transformation, and a moment where beauty became something untamed.
