tune

"Hello my love, I heard a kiss from you

Red magic satin playing near, too

All through the morning rain I gaze, the sun doesn't shine

Rainbows and waterfalls run through my mind

In the garden, I see

West purple shower bells and tea

Orange birds and river cousins

Dressed in green

Pretty music, I hear

So happy and loud

Blue flowers echo

From a cherry cloud

Feel sunshine sparkle pink and blue

Playgrounds will laugh

If you try to ask

"Is it cool?"

If you arrive and don't see me

I'm going to be with my baby

I am free, flying in her arms

Over the sea"

White-letter Hairstreak : Satyrium w-album

This is my contribution to the Smile on Saturday Group. The theme is: beads. Since I just bought a box of letter beads, I decided to use them for this awesome theme!

HSoS to all participants!

Thank you so much for your comments /favs and support! I’m humbled and grateful!!! I wish you all an amazing day and see you soon on Flickr!!

People like you and I, though mortal of course like everyone else, do not grow old no matter how long we live...[We] never cease to stand like curious children before the great mystery into which we were born.

letter to Otto Juliusburger

Albert Einstein

I was surprised to find this White-letter Hairstreak on the bracken early one morning in the middle of the Common with not an Elm tree in sight.

Well, the letter H occurs twice here. It's a Hover fly and it's correct Latin name is: Rhingia campestris, but these are also known as Heineken flies. When it comes to flowers, the long snout can 'reach the parts others can't reach'. Some flowers have concealed nectar sources that other hover flies can't get at. The original Heineken ads said something like 'refreshes the parts other beers can't reach' and it was close enough for the Rhingia hover flies to pick up this widely used nickname. Happy Smile on Saturday.

For my February Alphabet Fun Month group, I am adding an extra photo for the letter Y. Just because they’re yellow and beautiful and I needed some flowers. :-)

I bought myself some flowers. It’s been a colder than normal winter for central Indiana, with more snow and ice than usual. And I have seasonal effective disorder. There are no signs of spring outside. I needed flowers. The days are getting longer, and spring will be here soon. And I am starting to feel human again.

Meaning "Sheep Islands", the Faroe Islands owe much of their unique identity to these hardy, tangle-haired creatures.

If visiting the Faroe Islands National Archives in the capital Tórshavn, you will find a cardboard box with an ancient book bound in leather and burnished by hundreds of years of handling.

It is known as Seyðabrævið (the Sheep Letter). It's a collection of laws enacted in 1298 and the Faroe Islands' oldest surviving written document. Among other things, it details the level of compensation to be paid if a man lets his dog chase another man's sheep; takes grazing land away from a neighbour's flock; or drives a wild sheep into another shepherd's herd, thus disturbing the "calmer" animals.

Ever since Johannes Vermeer's five paintings, Girl reading a Letter at an Open Window, Woman reading a Letter, A lady writing a Letter, The Love Letter, and finally Lady writing a Letter with her Maid, the Letter has been a theme in cultural art. Numerous musicians sang about The Letter.

I recently saw a painting by Evert Thielen named Brief (Letter) (2017).

This is my contribution, a recently delivered letter, unopened, delivery person walking away ...

A letter that my mother wrote to my grandma when she was little..a long time ago..i just loved her writing and what she says..i used to be able to write like this too in the past..they made us practice at school..i do not think they do that anymore unless you get into calligraphy class later on ;-D

Thanks to my bro Thierry in Paris for sending me this recently...i just wanted to share ~

Letters in the time of George Washington were typically written on a single sheet of paper using a quill pen that was sharpened with a pen knife. The quill tip was dipped into an inkwell and used to scribe the letter. An ink blotter was rolled over the wet ink or a fine powder was dusted over the ink to dry it before folding the paper to form its own envelope which was then sealed using sealing wax. The outside was addressed to the recipient and a posted at an inn or other public establishment. In 1780, US mail was sent by depositing letters at local taverns, coffee houses, or print shops, to be carried by post riders, ship captains, or travelers along established, often dangerous, routes. It was expensive, generally paid by the recipient, and often utilized for official business. Stamps, as we know it were not used before 1847 in the US. The recipient of the letter paid for the letter where it was retrieved from a tavern or other local place where posts were held for pickup by the recipient.
