I do a lot of architectural photography for builders, renovators and realtors. Sometimes I get the opportunity to photograph a home with some really dramatic elements.

The Great Market Hall or Central Market Hall (Hungarian "Nagycsarnok") is the largest and oldest indoor market in Budapest, Hungary. The idea of building such large market hall arose from the first mayor of Budapest,Károly Kamermayer, and it was his largest investment. He retired in 1896 so when the building was completed, he participated in the opening ceremony as a citizen.

Vaulted ceilings always provide for more room and height to design your ceilings. With T&G ceilings, this interactive space has been designed with class and elegance. Wood is the dominant material in the design and is used well for the furniture, floors and the ceiling. It's also present as the cladding for the central fireplace feature that stands out.

Europe, Netherlands, Overijssel, Zwolle, Zeven Alleetjes, Stadkamer public library (JHK architecten), interior, books, stairs, vide (uncut)
What do you do when to convert a drab functionalist 70s office building that once served a large professional bureaucracy (the GGD, an inter-municipal public health agency) to an inviting public library? There are ofcourse many ways….
The architects (JHK) who designed the transformation did a very interesting thing. They led the building back to the modernistic roots of its style and began with punching out most partition walls. And after that they cut out large sections of floor to create an inviting and airy staircase in a vide – making the ‘durchdringung’ optimal -by creating sight lines that leads the eye through the building, no longer fundamentally hindered by floors and inner walls.

I'm talking about the ’Stadkamer’ in Zwolle. This well stocked library is very inviting and well designed indeed, with some charming touches: the riskshaw near the travel book section and the block of 10 public workstation that kinda hark back tot the former function of the building - the chairs are actually hometrainers, so you can workout on two levels – physical and intellectual ;-)
Lamp in the living room with Jupiter 9. I don't understand how i got to this result. In France light is different I guess.
