White-Headed Buffalo Weaver, Dinemellia dinemelli, native to the dry brush and savanna of eastern Africa. San Diego Zoo's Africa Rocks aviary. Conservation status: least concern
Dear Fumihide san,
I saw your flickr post and I am so happy to hear that your temperature is down to normal! I am also glad that you are taking it seriously as it is still a very real risk everywhere. It’s strange that it’s even the people who have taken all the necessary precautions that are getting sick now but I guess the one improvement is that in most current cases the symptoms are much milder. I wonder if there will ever be a return to “normal” or perhaps this already is the new normal!
Best wishes to you and family,
Brian

Just about every small town in the Midwest has one or more of these…an empty lot caused by the removal of one of the old buildings in a commercial row. Looking a bit like a missing tooth, what can you do with it? The days of commercial prosperity have flown the coop and about all you have now that is viable is a Casey’s gas station and a Dollar Store. These old commercial rows present a challenging situation for a bold entrepreneur who can think outside the box. Maybe we should just order dentures.
... to you all here on Flickr!
I wish you love, joy, peace and time.
Because the most valuable thing we can give others at Christmas is our time. Spending time with your loved ones is the true meaning of Christmas.

Frohe Weihnachten!

Cill Chriosd Manse House, Nr Broardford, Isle of Skye
I'll give you a break from Valencia for a while!
Back to March and my trip up to Skye. I met up with Skyeweasel and although the weather/tides meant Elgol was pretty pointless she was kind enough to show me a few locations I'd not shot before on the Broadford to Elgol road.
I'd seen this old manse house on a map and aerial photo and had it in mind to try to find but Louise took me straight there and we must have spent 90mins at least trying different povs and portrait v Landscape orientations. The snow on the mountains added a different feel. Several areas of rock existed to create leading lines and this was one of them.
Have to say I really enjoyed this location so once again my sincere thanks to Louise for her help and guidance on the day. Check out her channel if you haven't already www.flickr.com/photos/95388056@N02

Some time before I shot the previous photo, the Black-shouldered Kite male was carrying this twig and landed in the tree where the nest should be. I suppose this was just some small addition to the already completed construction because I had observed the nest building process at lest a month ago. I wonder about the strength of his beak holding the twig so precisely at its very tip during the fast flight.
This house looked so sad for a very long time. The area at the front was overgrown and full to bursting with three cornered leeks.
It took the new owners a bit of time, but it's now looking lovely. You can just see the Welcome sign I took a photo of on the left hand wall - www.flickr.com/photos/44506883@N04/50176710771/in/album-7...
Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites.
'twas great fun watching a pair shore up their nest in anticipation of little ones this morning.

Brackley is a delightful small market town in the south of Northamptonshire. Its market was originally based on wool and lace. Brackley is situated on strategic routes between London, Birmingham and the Midlands, and between Cambridge and Oxford. The charming former town hall in Brackley (pictured centre) dates from the Queen Anne period, having been built by the 4th Earl of Bridgwater in 1706. The weekly market is held in front of the building. In recent years the old town hall has undergone a major refurbishment, and I am pleased to say that an ugly metal fire escape has been removed from the outside of the building, with suitable improvements made inside.
The Little Old Woman finally found a cobbler to add on to her shoe. Of course, now there is room for more children.

The work never ends for a pair of nesting Blue-gray Gnatcatchers as this male returns to the nest bearing a clump of spider silk that will be woven into the nest.

Some of my old 1/72 were pretty rushed and all getting a good revisit. Much improved Mig-29 and now working on some camo versions.

I last stopped to photograph this small ruined building near Elphin back in 2014 ('Des Res'). It sits atop a small 'hill' with stunning views to Cul More and Suilven at left and right. The skies on this visit were particularly 'angry', rendering the mountains as almost black. I was pleased to see that perhaps this is not quite as abandoned as I thought; there was some additional, unexpected garden furniture added since my last visit.

Soon this will be double track with an interlocking installed. The cell phone towers will remain.
A CSX West Olive coal train turns the corner toward Grand Rapids in Plymouth, Michigan with a much improved yellow nose scheme. I hated the all grey and blue/grey schemes, this was an improvement but far from what could have been considering all the classy schemes that disappeared into Family Lines and CSX. April 1990

October 4, 1987: Three CSX SD50s dig in on the southward pull up Duff Mountain at what was earlier the south end of the old siding at Chaska, Tenn. Double track was extended to Habersham in 1980 as part of a number of improvements to maintain better fluidity on the KD Sub. Two SD40-2s are shoving on the rear behind the caboose.
Flynn, out in the woods on Tuesday morning. We'd stopped for a break for a little while & when I asked Flynn "shall we carry on now?", this was the face I got. Admittedly, Flynn set off quite a lot more slowly than he used to but it's always good to see him wide-eyed & excited for adventures! He enjoyed a good old sniff around & catching up on the local canine news... before deciding that was enough walking & getting back in his buggy.
Of course, the point Flynn got in the buggy was also the point where the path went from flat to a steep downhill slope. He's not a tiny dog (25kg/55lb) & the buggy is pretty large. Safely getting him down a steep, stony, leaf/stick/dirt covered track was... interesting. I had visions of slipping, losing my grip on the buggy & Flynn going for a very fast ride into the bushes at the bottom of the slope! Luckily, part way, a nice lady appeared & offered help! Isn't it wonderful meeting kind strangers? Things were much easier with two of us! Apparently even Flynn appreciated her kindness because he's not a dog who generally acknowledges strangers but once we were back on flat ground, he demanded to be let out, seemingly specifically in order to go say hello to her!
Unfortunately, that same evening Flynn seemed slightly off-colour & given how fast he's gone downhill lately, I decided a vet visit was needed Wednesday. Flynn's gone back on antibiotics - sooner than I'd hoped - but we want to get ahead of whatever is going on with him. Gah, I don't know, the vets must be sick of the sight of us both! He's still got some symptoms a few days on but the meds have prevented him getting worse at least & hopefully another few days will see active improvement again. Bless him, Flynn's being such a good little patient.
