Smile On Saturday: "Handle" theme

It's a carved wooden cane that my father had that has the words "Carib Reserve Dominica" written on the handle. It's a pretty cool cane with a woven covering on the shaft. I have no idea where or how my dad got it, as I don't believe that he was ever in the Caribbean island country of Dominica.

I did some quick research and found the following: "The Carib Reserve, now known as the Kalinago Territory, is a 3,700-acre district in Dominica set aside for the Kalinago people, the indigenous inhabitants of the island." The name change of the district occurred in 2015.

Well partner, this is what I ended up doing with those hexies. I hope you like it! The book is graph paper, perfect for quilt designing!

Done...with time to spare! It's going to be hard sending this one off. It's one of my favourite things I've ever made. But I know it will be going to someone who will appreciate this sampling of fussy cuts, paper piecing, wonky stars, and HSTs...and I bet she'll recognize most of the prints I chose.

Beautiful greenish-blue glass and warm brown copper make me think of a gorgeous stream that I like to wade in.

This past week I made all these rings and a few more pieces because I had to deliver them to Benaki Museum, Athens. I don't have it in me to make an extra one for Ring-a-Week.

I have posted before the three rings at the back but not the ones on the foreground.

The wavy one is plexiglass and sterling silver riveted together.

The rectangle ring is sterling silver filled with pigmented resin in translucent red.
