Mute swan with one of her four cygnets. I posted shots of these when they were tiny & they have all survived!

In the beauty and joy of each day… lala•*¨*•.¸¸laa♪

And still got four.

Not so small now.

Two old Lime Trees near Ebersberg - Bavaria.

The third time can be a charm. The first two times I visited this owl tree, I got wretched images. Today, the third time, in the rain, I got a half dozen keepers. Seeing three owlets and a parent bird up in an old oak tree was certainly a thrill, and getting a moment when they had their eyes open was even better.

Image and haiku by John Henry Gremmer

Everyday it grows a little more than it was the day before

It gets a little wider

It gets a little stronger

It grows, and it grows

The love for you just grows and grows

We have sunshine this morning, and even though I would rather see and be in rain, I am in the minority. Tree frogs might agree, however.

Another that I don't know the name of that grows wild.

If life challenges you and makes it difficult for you, you are forced to learn and grow. It is precisely these challenges that make us stronger and value life all the more.

Sounds like a reality show, for real! But these babies DO think they are royal, and so far, we have treated them so! Of course they think it's only fair! Their mother is a queen! (as a female cat is often called!)

Taken for Happy Caturday! : noble, royal

This has obviously been a ruin for some time, considering the size of the trees growing in it. Great location though, right by the Hudson. Plenty of fireplaces.

Though of course, I'm hoping to do it a little disgracefully...!

Holly leaves catching the light make for such fun bokeh :)

Cycads are seed plants with a very long fossil history that were formerly more abundant and more diverse than they are today. They have a cylindrical trunk which usually does not branch. Leaves grow directly from the trunk, and typically fall when older, leaving a crown of leaves at the top. The leaves grow in a rosette form, with new foliage emerging from the top and center of the crown. The trunk may be buried, so the leaves appear to be emerging from the ground, so the plant appears to be a basal rosette. The leaves are generally large in proportion to the trunk size, and sometimes even larger than the trunk. The leaves are pinnate (in the form of bird feathers, pinnae), with a central leaf stalk from which parallel ribs emerge from each side of the stalk, perpendicular to it. The leaves are typically either compound (the leaf stalk has leaflets emerging from it as ribs, or have edges (margins) so deeply cut (incised) so as to appear compound. Some species have leaves that are bipinnate, which means the leaflets each have their own subleaflets, growing in the same form on the leaflet as the leaflets grow on the stalk of the leaf (self-similar geometry). 26357

……Ghostly goings on when we drove by here in October! All the trees, which all looked to be Oaks had huge white fleeces draped on the ground beneath them all!! We assumed it was to harvest the Acorns?! They have been cropped out and the shot given the Sliders Sunday treatment for added Ghostly affect. HSS, Alan:-).…….

Slow going through the sounds of Milford. Amazing how plants take hold, even on a steep incline.

This is the result of eating non stop for about 18 hours a day. It was almost bigger looking than the parent. The tired parent bird briefly got a little rest as it left this little guy for a half a minute.

Taken through the trusty lounge room window from a distance of about four feet.
