The Kapuni stream forming the Dawson falls powers one of the world's oldest operational electricity generators just a few hundred meters upstream. The generator powers the nearly Dawson Falls Tourist Lodge and has operated since 1935.
The colors of the sky that evening were amazing. I was out with the dogs and fortunately had the Nikon 35mm camera with me.

Switzerland - near Schöftland. A bit strange image - also from the "car-camera". It shows very strong grain - much more than the other images of the same film. You can't always know exactly how the images will come out. But somehow it looks cool.

On Sunday night, I got to spend some time up on the St. Joe Sub after a concert in Atchison, and when I saw the signals indicating a northbound on its way, I set up for a shot at the Platte River bridge near Farley, MO.
Much to my surprise, the northbound turned out to be a Warbonnet solo shot, the BNSF 717 leading a Siemens generator on a depressed-center flat car. This was the J-MEMOMA, and it was heading to a new CNG power plant in Omaha.
Dienstzeit
Die Bürgermeister Abendroth wurde 1908/1909 als Stationsschiff Eider auf der Eiderwerft in Tönning unter der Baunummer 89 gebaut und unterstand der Königlichen Wasserbauinspektion in Tönning. Die Herstellungskosten betrugen 300.000 Mark. Das als Schoner getakelte stählernes Schiff ohne eigenen Maschinenantrieb wurde 1909 als Feuerschiff auf einer Position auf der inneren Außeneider eingesetzt.
Im Ersten Weltkrieg wurde es als Kriegsfeuerschiff in der Nordsee eingesetzt, seit 1919 wieder auf der Eiderposition. Im Jahr 1927 erhielt es den Namen Bürgermeister Abendroth, benannt nach Amandus Augustus Abendroth, und diente als Reservefeuerschiff für die Positionen Elbe 2, 3 und 4.[1] Später unterstand es dem Wasser- und Schifffahrtsamt Cuxhaven. Während des Zweiten Weltkrieges wurde es als Beobachtungsfahrzeug der Kriegsmarine in der Ostsee eingesetzt.[2]
Als Leuchtfeuer und Lotsenstation war es bis 1966 auf der Position ELBE 3 im Dienst. Elbe 3 war eine Feuerschiffsposition nordwestlich Cuxhavens und nordöstlich der Insel Neuwerk in einem der Hauptschifffahrtswege der Deutschen Bucht. Nachfolger auf der Position war bis 1977 das Leuchtschiff Weser.
Als Segelschiff konnte die Elbe 3 notfalls auch mit einer Sturmbesegelung manövriert werden. Bestand das Leuchtfeuer zunächst noch aus Petroleumlampen, wurden 1930 ein Diesel-Generator und Akkumulatoren für die elektrische Befeuerung eingebaut. Dadurch konnten auch die von Hand betriebenen Nebelhörner ersetzt werden.[2]
Das Stahldeck hat eine mittlerweile erneuerte Decksauflage aus Oregon Pine.[3]
Zur Kommunikation mit dem Festland hatte das Schiff einen Taubenschlag an Bord. Bis zum Beginn des Ersten Weltkrieges wurden beim Tausch der Besatzung auch neue Brieftauben an Bord gebracht.[3]

This is the Haystack Rock at Seaside. There is a larger one at Pacific City and a third one down near Bandon.. Yes it is confusing but they are a bit different even tho they have the same name... Happy Sliders Sunday, Everybody!!!!
