Irena Topalli explaining volunteer tasks assignments, mentoring of volunteers and pre-deployment and In-country Induction: the sessions aim was to provide a clear understanding on rules, procedures and practices in the support system that should be employed while preparing to engage volunteers within EU Aid Volunteers programme. Importance of having mentors that are well trained and able to support volunteers focused the discussion in some soft skills that mentors should have. While using theatre methodology we simulated a pre deployment training with a group of volunteers and a session of induction, in order to visualize the steps that should be involved in these two phases of volunteers’ preparation and support.
Anna and I went down to Salinas Animal Shelter today and saw the most adorable Labrador Retriever three month old Puppy. We fell in love with him, and are heading back tomorrow to adopt him (barring any unforseen consquences). We should have him on our home sometime next week.
When we got there, they put in a 'get acquainted pen (where you see the pictures), and when they brought Cooper in and let him off the leash, he immediate ran up and introduced himself to me (very friendly). He's so cute, and well mannered for a puppy. He'll need some obedience training, but we're all very excited.
Explaining Cricket:
You have two sides, one out in the field and one in. Each man that's in the side that's in goes out, and when he's out he comes in and the next man goes in until he's out. When they are all out, the side that's out comes in and the side thats been in goes out and tries to get those coming in, out. Sometimes you get men still in and not out.
When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in. There are two men called umpires who stay all out all the time and they decide when the men who are in are out.
When both sides have been in and all the men have been out, and both sides have been out twice after all the men have been in, including those who are not out, that is the end of the game!
