Barcelona’s most populous district, Eixample (the Extension) is a fashionable residential area where many of the city’s most expensive shops, hotels, restaurants and nightspots can be found. The uniform grid pattern of the streets, as well as the Art Nouveau (Modernista) architecture that can be found throughout the neighborhood are the hallmarks of this district.
