With darkness coming earlier and cooler weather prevailing, nearby meadows are supporting fewer flowers. As such, it's time to shift gears in anticipation of Fall with a stroll through "Tagger's Alley' & semi-urban settings beyond...
As the seasons change, some low-lying clouds remind me that stormy days are ahead. But for now, I enjoy the September colors at the end of the day.

Those following my stream can see that 20 minutes before this image, the sky was clear blue and the sun was shining. Proof to be careful in the mountains. A polar weather situation made this day quite challenging.

Badger
Major changes were made with regard to the lighting arrangement at the Badger drinking trough (flash will never be used on nocturnal creatures)
It seems to have paid dividends and augurs well for the future.
This is a new animal at the trough and I suspect is the same badger that has previously been photographed climbing the tree stump.
View from the deck yesterday...awoke to the same today. Ground still too warm for it to stick. Not unusual at all to have October snow, but I become less enthused about it with each passing year.
As our season changes colours so did our political landscape with a majority Liberal win in our Government tonight. Wondering what lies ahead around the bend...
All the faces
All the voices blur
Change to one face
Change to one voice
Prepare yourself for bed
The light seems bright
And glares on white walls
All the sounds of Charlotte sometimes
Into the night with Charlotte sometimes
Night after night she lay alone in bed
Her eyes so open to the dark
The streets all looked so strange
They seemed so far away but Charlotte did not cry
The people seemed so close
Some playing expressionless games
The people seemed so close
So many other names
Sometimes I'm dreaming
Where all the other people dance
Sometimes I'm dreaming
Charlotte sometimes
Sometimes I'm dreaming
Expressionless the trance
Sometimes I'm dreaming
So many different names
Sometimes I'm dreaming
The sounds all stay the same
Sometimes I'm dreaming
She hopes to open shadowed eyes on a different world
Come to me scared princess, Charlotte sometimes
On that bleak track see the sun is gone again
The tears were pouring down her face
She was crying and crying for a girl
Who died so many years before
Sometimes I dream
Where all the other people dance
Sometimes I dream
Charlotte sometimes
Sometimes I dream
The sounds all stay the same
Sometimes I'm dreaming
So many different names
Sometimes I dream, sometimes I dream
Charlotte sometimes
Crying for herself
Charlotte sometimes
Dreams a wall around herself
But it's always with love
With so much love
It looks like everything else
Charlotte sometimes
So far away, glass sealed and pretty, Charlotte Sometimes

Revisited this small lake close to my home on a frosty and snow day in January 2023. The last time, when I was on location, it was quite some years ago. It was summer and the lake was completely dry. What a different view this day! Looking forward to my next visit.

When winter meets spring and the morning mist returns with the promise of summer...
In March snowflakes turn into shy snowdrops that welcome spring... Winter doesn't want to go... it lingers at night, but the days are warmer and the birds return to sing goodbye to winter.
Spring is slowly moving in...

An eastbound Burlington Northern coal train changes crews in front of the depot at Dickinson, North Dakota, on the morning of August 10, 1991. BN’s fleet of SD60Ms were initially concentrated on the former Northern Pacific main line in coal service, and the two-window EMD SD60Ms were brand new at the time.

April is National Poetry Month, a celebration of poets and poetry that's been in place for 25 years.
Last month, as the U.S. grieved over attacks against Asian Americans, NPR's Morning Edition collected poems on how people grapple with the increased violence and discrimination.
Over 500 listeners shared powerful, poignant poems — in the form of a list beginning with the word "today." They showcased fear, anger, empathy and motivation to make the world a better place.
NPR's resident poet Kwame Alexander took lines from the submissions to create a community poem, "Today, I Am A Witness To Change."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To quote just a few:
Today I hesitate
for the first time, I wonder if I should stay home and not walk the neighborhood.
it's not the weather or the virus — the day is beautiful
Today
I'm frozen
Terrified.
I cannot hide
This skin
This hair
These eyes.
I see the punch, punch, punch of a community at war.
Today I am a witness.
I rush past the jeering white boys that say I brought corona to America.
My soul is wary.
Today, a video call full of empty boxes
Stares at me, apprehensively.
Students locked behind a screen
Their hearts and minds
Severed
From one another.
Today, the headlines say March Madness
Today, I don't watch basketball.
The madness is in the streets.
In broad daylight.
On the concrete sidewalks of New York.
In the silence of bystanders.
It's in the textbooks. The classrooms. The family dinners. The lies we tell.
Today the rain falls
and falls
and falls
and falls.
a silent tear from a weeping woman.
Today, I will say their names
I will cancel class and try again tomorrow.
That's a scary thought to commute to NYC nowadays for me, even I'm FULLY inoculated. :-(((
oh, I could feel the change a comin'
felt it in the breeze
oh, I could feel the change a comin'
comin' right for me
oh, I could feel the change a comin'
saw it staring right on back at me
oh, I could feel the world was turnin'
all inside, all inside my mind
I knew it when it started
felt the shift right as it parted
saw my feet right down below me
oh, maybe there's a past life coming out inside of me
maybe it's the song I'm singing'
maybe everything's just turnin'
out how ♬♪ it should be ♬♪
Ever changing light!
Mornings like this one justify why I sometimes just setup the tripod and stay rooted to the same spot for sometimes over an hour.
Watching the blue hour tones give way to yellows, oranges and reds until the sun rises and shows the natural greens of the countryside and blue from the clear sky!
The rolling mist just adds some lovely atmosphere and mood to the conditions around!
This African elephant was discovered in the Samburu region of Kenya. As you can see from the image its habitat is changing rapidly from an area that was once quite lush to an area that is now quickly becoming a desert as a result of a lengthy and ongoing drought. The climate crisis is happening now and is already having devastating impacts on the planet.
