~~~ VIVID ABSTRACTS ~~~
Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️❤️❤️
For years, I've been asked to do pictures of me as comic book women, so I've done some online research to find out who they are and what they look like. Then I put together costumes to get their look as close as I can. Usually, it takes a good bit of photo editing. Making their look and building sets or finding good locations is a fun process. Thanks to the people who have suggested who they would like me to appear as. I have more in the works. If you have any suggestions, please drop me a line.
Compositionally Challenged Week 20 - Active Space
After looking in my bird books, I think this is a Swainson's Hawk.
We watched the hawk for several minutes while it moved from one branch to another before it took flight carrying a piece of bark.
Your biggest challenge isn't someone else. Its the ache in your lugs and the burining on your legs and the voice inside that yells you "can't" but you don't listen. You just push harder. And then you hear the voice whispers "can". And you discover the person you though you were, is no match for the one you really are.
A photo inspired by the infamous Elizabeth Bathory for the Fairy Tale - Dark Edition Challenge by the SL Creative Hub.
Not that it's quite a fairy tale, but there's a princess and there's a castle and there's rumors of copious amounts of blood involved...
A business trip afforded the opportunity for a night stroll toenjoy the dynamic contrasting lighting challenges surrounding the Gateway Arch National Park. This is the fourth image taken that night that is part of my arch project. Posted on Instagram at www.instagram.com/p/CMWDd-dKOeC/
Looking in the opposite direction to yesterdays post, illustrates how it is often rewarding to observe what is in the immediate vicinity. While the colours were again muted, the clouds were just as dynamic. And, a stretch along the horizon almost appears to be out of place.
Nature is incredible, and when her temper is challenged, becomes fascinating to capture. Once again, this is from just outside of Kamloops, BC, and along the Thompson River.
Pray for Me Guys! I'm not a big spicy foods fan but I am putting myself up for the Spicy Noodle Challenge! I've got milk, I've got water, and in the freezer I've got some ice cream to combat the heat. Wish Me Luck!
The challenge calls for "My Favourite Things". I have lots of favourite things to choose from but visiting the Sumatran Tigers at Australia Zoo is really a great pleasure.
"Australia Zoo is home to some of the last surviving Indonesian species of big cat – the Sumatran tiger!
Found throughout the forests and grasslands of Sumatra, these big cats are the smallest of all remaining tiger species. They are an impressive and powerful hunter with the ability to jump up to 5 metres (16 feet) in length! Using their stealthy stalking abilities, they will successfully hunt deer, pigs, jungle fowl and fish. Sumatran tigers have a range of vocalisations and communication tools. Their roar can be heard up to 3 kilometres (1.8 miles) away. Crikey! Like all tiger species, their beautiful orange and black striped coat is unique to every individual, just like our fingerprints!
Sumatran tigers are a critically endangered species. There are fewer than 350 left in the wild. These beautiful animals are victim to the illegal wildlife pet trade, illegal poaching for traditional medicine, illegal hunting for pelts and meat, as well as experiencing rapid deforestation and habitat loss. They are a species that is facing certain extinction without our protection."
A few weeks back our camera club had an outing to Canary Wharf in east London to photograph a 'winter lights' display, a selection of light displays scattered around Canary Wharf (some of them very good) that got underway once it got dark.
The meet up was at 5:30 pm but I decided to make my way there beforehand and so arrived in the early afternoon for what I hoped would be some long exposure photography. That didn't really turn out too well to be honest but I am forever the architectural enthusiast and so I set about shooting some of the architecture around the estate with a wide angle lens.
One of the compositions I saw in my mind's eye almost immediately was this one with all the vertical shapes in the frame. And for once, in a winter that has been as dull and gloomy as I can remember here in the UK, for once it was sunny and gloriously bright. The whole world seems lit up when the sun shines, our moods become more open and people linger in sunny spaces where otherwise they would slink back to their offices and places of work. It was just lovely to be out with a camera.
This was not a long exposure as you can probably see but the water was still and the reflections on it were clear. It's March as of tomorrow and I'm really starting to imagine we'll soon be getting more of this kind of weather... please!
Dor Walker, here's my version... adjusted various tones & hues plus the little puddle. Tried to add some punch to it but don't know if I succeded.
Thanks for the challenge!
One from our recent trip to Tenerife. These were quite accommodating, however spending most of the time on the ground they were still a challenge at times to get a clear shot. They scurried around the vegetation and sneaking off into cover. Occasionally they would sit out in the open.
Thanks to all who view and comment on my work, much appreciated :)
for Monday Photo Challenge and Thursday Retread Group.
this week's challenge....."apples or anything made with or having to do with an apple or some sort of autumn fruit"
to view other photos in the group:
I composed this image in response to a self-imposed photography challenge: create an interesting image of a door, or doors. In accomplishing this, I sought to construct a photograph that was open (pardon the pun) to interpretation.
When there are many problems and responsibilities in life, when you cannot feel free, then you challenge yourself and your destiny.
Когда в жизни множество проблем и обязанностей, когда ты не можешь почуствовать себя свободным, тогда ты бросаешь вызов самому себе и своей судьбе.
Next Saturday is Earth Day, so the subject for next week's challenge will be Earth Day related, such as beautiful landscapes, wild animals, flowers and trees, and anything else related to the environment. Processing is fine, and if you wish to turn your photo into a poster for Earth Day, that is fine, too.
Haven't been out much this week but took this last sunday in a graveyard, bluebells, tulips and cow parsley all growing here.
The musc is by George Fenton and is the prelude to "Planet Earth"
