There are so many beautiful and kind people in this world, and my lovely Flickr friend Dianne is definitely one of them. Knowing that we’re in lockdown down here in Melbourne, Dianne thought we could probably do with cheering up a bit, and sent us the most gorgeous little care package containing lovely goodies from her local area. There was some plunger coffee (I always start my day with a coffee plunger these days), some organic Lemongrass and Ginger tea (my other favourite hot drink), and some absolutely delicious looking chocolate and fudge (they won’t last long). These were accompanied by the most darling little gift card featuring a Comb-crested Jacana.
I’ve been on Flickr for nearly 9 years now and Dianne and I have followed each other for almost all that time, both having an interest in nature and birds, she was I think one of the first people I ever followed on Flickr.
Thank you Dianne - Adrienne and I really appreciate your kindness and generosity and the goodies you sent will definitely be enjoyed immensely, it was such a kind thing to do. I hope that your beautiful part of the world remains COVID free and that you can continue to enjoy your birding outings so I can live vicariously through your photos for a little while. One day we will definitely make it up your way to say hello and to enjoy a few little outings with you around your locality, that will definitely give me a few more “ticks” off my birding list if your recent photos are anything to go by.

This is part of a very special care package that was sent to me by a sweet, sweet Flickr contact. She knows what I have been struggling with and took the time to send me some special things to brighten my day. I really appreciate it and my Thanks sounds so shallow to me. And in the midst of this Flickr contact's own trials and a time of recovery, she managed to send this to me. That means so much.
Today is an especially rough day. A person that is very disruptive in my life and makes me have a sick-feeling stomach and nervous/anxiousness all day is around me again. I can feel my whole demeanor change. I cannot stand it.
So I had to look at the photo of my special gifts to remind me of the good people in my life that are good for my soul. Because there are some that are not. And when I really can't do anything about it, it is very disheartening.
Last night we got this delivery from our son in Utah. When we were talking about food supplies and Easter, I told him we had a great ham we were getting at a drive-through but the after- ham split pea soup and/or kidney beans wouldn't happen this year as our stores and online were all out.
2 days later we got this box with 3 bags of each and 2 HUGE wipes. I feel loved.

It seemed that the treats kept disappearing so I set up a camera to see who was stealing them!
So it wasn't mice!

I love packages - pretty much all shapes, sizes and weights! I like to hold them and at times shake them back and forth. My buddy Tom in El Paso, TX mailed me so many killer items and I swear I'll be busy all week just photographing all of it, thank you Mister Rock Star!
Look at the goodies we got in the mail from our sweet friend, Mary Anne, in New Orleans! She knows what a hard time Ken & I are having- with my knee and now Ken's broken shoulder! She KNOWS comfort food! When we opened the package, it was ALMOST as good as having her cook for us! LOTS of great things to try! I used the Blue Runner Gumbo Base last night- added chicken and sausage, rice- it was REALLY good!!

alison sent me this block from a drawing i did of a squirrel and a sample card she made for marie with my drawing. i think it came out very nicely! alison also sent me a vacation house for my finches and a super sweet card, not to mention "SWEET" in transfer letters for the butt of a pair of sweatpants, but that's another story. she also sent me a gorgeous and fully lined pouch.
My husband is in the US Army, these are a few of the things I sent him in his last care package.
Left- homemade chocolate cake... IN A JAR! Those were fun to make & decorate - did I mention OH SO CUTE? They are also supposed to keep for up to a month in these cute little mason jars!
Right- homemade cookies... "Oatmeal Scotchies" to be exact! Mainly butterscotch chips and oatmeal, YUM!
I just wanted to spread a little Christmas cheer to my husband! ♥
Today, all these goodies arrived, and 1 new girl, which I will introduce soon. I was blown away that I received a box of Chocolates from Ester (Shimmering Magic) and a beautiful box of gobs of LY and Blythe goodies from Debby (Lace5200) - such thoughtful people. Sending you both love and hugs through the airwaves! Also some pretty dresses arrived for my girls. Thanks again!!!! You both are such dear people!

I just wanted to let you all know that I had a blast on my 4day pass. I went to Vegas not to gamble but to spend time with Jeff, my daughter Jewels and to make up for her 1 year old Birthday. We were 2 days late because our pass didn't start till the 24th of October and her bday is 20Oct. Anyways I'm packing up and getting ready to move out to Kuwait on the 3rd of November. I hope that we can continue to keep in touch and who knows maybe I'll get a carepackage with goodies...hahahahaha JOKE! Honestly I may be miles away but I hope that we can continue to keep in touch. This was a special cookie, and I worked very hard to come up with a UNIQUE design for them. They were ordered by a wife for her husband who is finishing his third tour of duty in Iraq. This was for their anniversary. I didn't ask a lot of questions, but their "thing" is sheep. So this is my sheep with an army twist. Camo background, dog tags, and a heart from his wife.
I made an exception to my ABSOLUTELY NO SHIPPING rule. I packed them for her, and her best friend agreed to ship them. I am very glad it worked out so well. Now lets pray they make it to Iraq safely and in a timely manner!

Each box contained a one and a half pound packet of biscuits, two khaki handkerchiefs, a pack of cards or a game of Contack, a parcel of barley sugar, a packet of crystallised fruit or seeded raisins, a razor blade, a half pound tin of chocolate, a tin of 50 cigarettes, a book, and three packets of chewing gum. Packers, from left, were Mrs M. Thursby, Mrs. J. Stitt, Miss F. McLeod, Mrs. R. Reid, Miss G. McLeod (convenor for the day) and Sergeant P. H. Fraser. Commandant of the Red Cross Depot was Mrs. W. T.
